Getting Spooled

While it largely goes unseen on baitcaster reels the spool plays a big part, especially in hi-end super tuned reels. They not only work in partnership with the cast control system of most reels to dictate a reels casting application and ability but they can also play a big part when it comes to reducing reel weight.

Take the many Daiwa and Megabass variations of the same reel and more often than not it’s a shaved down spool that brings the weight of the reel down. So with this less is more philosophy take a look at this new honeycomb spool from Megass.

Want to pimp out your Steez for some light weight bait finesse work, this is one you want. Beware though it’ll come with a steep price tag.

Hi, where do you purchase your finesse spools from? I’m looking to get a megabass finesse spool for my steez. That’s if they are still making them, if not what other spool options are there? By the way cool website!

    • Plat or Japan Tackle are the pick. Plat in particular will try and track something down if they don’t have it in stock.

Thanks for the kind words on the site.
